Proficiency Qualifications

Improve Proficiency Qualifications (IPQs)
Food and Drink Sector Skills Council Improve and the National Skills Academy have developed the Improve Proficiency Qualifications (IPQs). They are work based qualifications developed specifically for the food and drink industry and replace the old NVQs. They are based on unit assessment, covering the occupational skills or knowledge needed to carry out specific jobs within the food and drink sector.

The IPQs were designed in consultation with employers to ensure they cover the best practices within each of the sectors covered. IPQs raise the skills and knowledge of the learners enabling them to improve the individual performance and productivity.

What levels are available?
Each IPQ is available at different levels, from level 2 to level 4 and each level can be taken as an Award, Certificate or Diploma.

To achieve the full level 2 certificate, learners must achieve a minimum of 27 credits, comprising of a combination of credits taken from the three unit groups. Any additional credits achieved up to 36 credits will be recorded as part of the qualification.
