Apprenticeships

Food Manufacture

Introduction
The Apprenticeship covers a wide range of job roles within food manufacture, including bakers, butchers, brewery workers, cake decorators, confectioners, food processing operatives, meat process workers, fishmonger, food logistics controllers and team leaders. The Apprenticeship is a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in your chosen profession

Programme Length
Apprenticeship in Food Manufacturing 12 to 18 months
Advanced Apprenticeship in Food Manufacturing 18 to 24 months

General
To achieve the Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2) in Food manufacturing a learners must complete the following qualifications

Mandatory Essential Skills:
Functional Skills- level 1 in English & Maths

Knowledge Based Elements:
Knowledge based units are embedded within the competence based career paths outlined below. Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) is covered by Employment induction and the apprenticeship framework.

Route 1 - Meat and Poultry
Route 2 - Baking
Route 3 - Milling
Route 4 - Food Industry
Route 5 - Food Manufacturing Excellence
Route 6 - Fish and Shellfish
Route 7 - Brewing


Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS):
Trainees are required to complete a reflective logbook while working towards their Apprenticeship. This will be issued by Improve Ltd once registered with them.

Assessment Method:
You will be assessed using a combination of the following -

Course Work
Distance Learning
Oral Questions
Professional Discussion
Portfolio of Evidence
Practical Demonstration/Observation of work activities
Practical Examination
Written Examination

Progression
On completion of the level 2 Apprenticeship you may wish to continue your development by enrolling on to the level 3 Apprenticeship.
