North East Food Technology Services Ltd (NEFTS) was established in 2007 to assist small and medium sized food and drink companies to achieve the standards currently expected by the Food and Drink Industry.
Headed by two food technologists, who between them have over 36 years collective experience working in technical functions (Quality Assurance, Product Development) for major blue chip food companies across the UK and, more recently, in the North East Region.

It is our passionate belief that the Food and Drink Industry needs practical help to increase market opportunities, and with more emphasis being placed on achieving industry standards there is a real need for honest, value for money assistance. We thrive on developing people within companies to take on a more technical role and delight in seeing those we have helped reach their goals and succeed in realising their potential.
           
Our services include:

  • HACCP – development and implementation

  • BRC – development and implementation of Quality Management Systems (Food and Packaging)

  • Auditing – Pre BRC Audits, HACCP systems, Internal Audits, Supplier Assurance

  • Product Development – benchmarking, recipe development and related services

  • SALSA – Approved Mentors and Auditors for the SALSA Standard (including Seafish)

  • Training – Approved Training Centre with RSPH and HABC

      • Food Safety, HACCP, Nutrition, Health & Safety

      • Sensory Analysis (panel training etc.)

      • Food Labelling

      • Auditing

  • FDQ Registered Centre to Deliver Improve Proficiency Apprenticeships (IPA) and Improve Proficiency Qualifications (IPQ)

All of our services are designed to ensure that they meet the exact requirements of the client companies and are usually delivered on site.
Assistance in sourcing partial grants towards meeting project or training costs may be possible.

To date we have assisted 30 companies to achieve either BRC or SALSA certification and provide ongoing support to these and other companies to ensure they maintain their standards.
